Workshop Details


Date: Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 – May 14th, 2024

Time: 8:00 to 10:00 am ET/ 1:00 to 3:00 pm WAT/8:00 to 10:00 pm China time

Duration: 105 minutes per week (45-minute open-call lecture and a 60-minute participatory small group activities)

Location: Online – Interactive Zoom Session

Audience: Early career researchers and others who are writing their first US National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grant either as PI or as part of a team

About our workshop


This interactive workshop, organized by Social Entrepreneurship to Spur Health (SESH), the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI), the HOPE consortium, the UNC CFAR TechEngage, in partnership with 4 Youth By Youth (4YBY), aims to boost the grant-writing capabilities of early-career researchers, particularly focusing on US NIH research grant applications. By providing a platform for collaboration, mentorship, and skill development, this workshop is designed to empower researchers in health research grant writing.


What you'll learn

 Enhanced Grant Writing Skills: Learn essential skills for planning, writing, and submitting successful research grant applications.

Interactive Sessions: 45-minute open-call lectures by experienced principal investigators and reviewers of NIH grant applications, followed by 60-minute participatory small-group activities facilitated by 1-2 experienced mentors for in-depth discussion and hands-on feedback.

Collaboration Opportunities: Collaborate with diverse teams, learning from peers with varied backgrounds and expertise.

Mentorship Experience: In addtion to acquire mentorship from senior researchers, you will also develop peer-mentorship abilities throughout the participatory small-group activities.
